Kannomine Mountain The view from Kannomine Mountain, 453 meters, presents the splendid
archipelagic beauty of the Seto Inland Sea. Even Mt. Ishizuchi in Shikoku can be seen far in the distance. Although this is a relatively steep mountain, it has a roadway that leads to the top, where Yakushido Temple and Ishizuchi Shrine are located. There are wooded areas where people can take leisurely walks enjoying seasonal changes and birds' singing.. At the foot of the mountain is an area noted for growing blueberries. Ogushitobama, which can be seen to the west from Kannomine Mountain, is a beautiful sandy beach more than 1 kilometer long, with bathing places and town-run campsites. The beach is called the Ama no Hashidate (in Kyoto, one of the "three most beautiful sites in Japan") of Western Japan. Ogushi is also noted for its rare sea erosion caves, Koko no Tsubo (a lot of pots). The house gate of the Tasaka family, heads of Harada Village, and the two-story gate of Kozen Temple are two of the noted historic sites of the town. The Itsukushima stone lantern of Nakano was built in celebration of the major land reclamation by drainage in 1818. There is a folklore research center at the Nakano Elementary School.
